Fife Youth Winter Leagues 2017/18 - Boys and Girls teams

After the success of the winter leagues in 2015/16 and 2016/17, we will once again be running youth winter leagues throughout the winter football break in 2017/18.

In 2015/16 we had a 48 boys teams involved with this increasing to 82 boys and 9 girls teams in 2016/17. I fully expect this winter to have a further increase on numbers. The only stumbling block may be facilities.

Like last year, we have secured Michael Woods, Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre, Beath Highs School (school and refurb) and Woodmill High School as venues. I hope to confirm additional venues shortly.

League's will be tiered on age/ability similar to as follows (subject to change depending on numbers within each league):

Saturday's 0900-1330:

  • LA LIGA - 2007/08's (development 2007's and advanced 2008's)
  • BUNDESLIGA - 2008/09's (development 2008's and all 2009's)

Sunday's 0900-1330:

  • LIGUE 1 - 2006's (advanced)
  • PREMIER LEAGUE - 2006/07's (development 2006's and advanced 2007's)

Girls: (time and days to be confirmed...numbers dependant)

  • under 9's
  • under 11's
  • under 13's
  • under 15's

Although hall hire has once again increased, fees will remain at £20 per week as per previous years. The registration fee will increase to £35. This will include a specially designed match quality futsal ball for every team and will cover insurance, medals and trophies.

The league will run for 15 weeks between the 4th of November and the 24 of February. There will be a 2 week festive break over Christmas and New Year.

The total cost will be £335 per team.

Matches will be 40 minutes in duration. You can use up to 10 players per game (advised 9 or below).

PLACES WILL BE RESERVED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.

PLEASE REGISTER ASAP TO AVOID ANY POTENTIAL DISAPPOINTMENT. REGISTRATION CLOSES ON THE 1ST OF SEPTEMBER 2017.

To register please email us on our designated league email address:

fifefutsalleague@gmail.com

detailing your team, age group and what league you wish to participate in.

A MODERN APPROACH TO GOALKEEPING with Tony Elliott

A MODERN APPROACH TO GOALKEEPING with Tony Elliott

A Modern Approach to Goalkeeping with Tony Elliott.

  • Michael Woods Leisure Centre, Glenrothes
  • Sunday 8th of October 2017
  • 2pm - 6pm
  • £25 (£20 affiliated coaches)

This goalkeeping workshop is the first of its kind in Scotland and is perfect for any coaches, not just goalkeepers.

The role of a goalkeeper is often overlooked, however, it is now one of the most important positions on a football pitch and probably the most important position on a futsal court. The goalkeeping position has evolved more than any other with a goalkeeper now responsible for not only keeping the ball out the net but for starting counter attacks, retaining possession and organising the team from the back.

As the role has evolved, goalkeeping coaching has had to do so with it. This is where Tony will highlight the differences and how futsal has also had an impact on the modern day goalkeeper.

At a fantastic £25 (£20 for Futsal Escocia Youth League coaches) you are sure to go home thinking about how we coach goalkeepers and how we should be coaching goalkeepers.

Tony will also be offering signed copies of his book 'A Modern Approach to Goalkeeping' at a discounted price to those registered on the course.

To register please email Russell at futsalescocia@gmail.com.

Adult League Finale!!

Adult League Finale!!

This weekend sees an end to our most competitive and exciting adult league yet!! A draw for Bayside against current champions The Bionic Boys last weekend has put Bayside in poll position. Bayside need to beat an ever improving and unpredictable Young Pups to ensure the title is theirs. Should Bayside fail to get the 3 points required, it will then go the final game between Crossgates and Futsal Escocia. A drew would ensure Bayside are champions with a win putting either in contention. Complicated stuff!!

If you are at a loose end or support/play for these teams, get yourself along to Dunfermline High School on Sunday and give them your support.

Good luck to all the teams involved and well done to all the teams throughout this league, there is no longer an easy game.

Youth Winter Leagues 2016/17

The fixtures and venues for all the leagues are now available to view on the website under the heading YOUTH WINTER LEAGUES.

I have tried to keep teams with 2 or 3 teams participating together as much as possible but this is not always possible, in particular if they are playing in different leagues.

Can teams please familiarise yourselves with the Futsal Escocia Youth Rules and please adhere to them throughout the league. Games will not have a referee and it's up to the coaches to take responsibility. Any questions on the rules or the league please get in touch prior to the league starting up.

A reminder to all teams/coaches/parents that the league has been set up to provide the children with a fun and exciting playing environment throughout their winter football break. To make the experience as enjoyable as possible, please encourage and support the children from all the teams.

Further details on parking, facilities etc will follow next week.
